Oncotherm
Oncotherm makes the EHY-2000 and EHY-2030 modulated electro-hyperthermia machines, lower-power radiofrequency devices used in private and some academic clinics to heat tumours alongside radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
Overview
Oncotherm, founded in 1988 with Hungarian roots and headquartered in Troisdorf, Germany, sells capacitive radiofrequency hyperthermia devices in which a modulated current is passed between an electrode and a water bolus bed. The company describes the approach as modulated electro-hyperthermia and it is used in several hundred clinics, mostly in Europe and Asia; controlled evidence is smaller than for phased-array deep hyperthermia, with a randomised trial in cervical cancer in South Africa.
