The Indian company whose trispecific antibody ISB 2001 for multiple myeloma was licensed to AbbVie in 2025 for 700 million dollars upfront, the largest deal for an Indian-discovered cancer drug.
Overview
Glenmark was founded on 18 November 1977 by Gracias Saldanha in Mumbai. In January 2024 it consolidated oncology discovery into Ichnos Glenmark Innovation (IGI), a venture with its subsidiary Ichnos Sciences, with three molecules in the clinic at launch. In July 2025 IGI licensed ISB 2001, a BCMA x CD38 x CD3 trispecific T-cell engager in phase 1 for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma, to AbbVie for 700 million dollars upfront and up to 1.225 billion dollars in milestones plus royalties; AbbVie took North America, Europe, Japan and Greater China and Glenmark kept India and emerging markets. In 2025 Glenmark also in-licensed the HER2 ADC trastuzumab rezetecan from Hengrui (a deal valued at up to 1.1 billion dollars) and the EGFR inhibitor aumolertinib from Hansoh for several regions.
