Lyell Immunopharma
Lyell makes next-generation CAR T-cell therapies designed to last longer in the body and resist exhaustion. Its lead product, ronde-cel, targets two proteins on lymphoma cells at once and is in pivotal trials for large B-cell lymphoma.
Overview
Lyell Immunopharma is a late-stage clinical company developing CAR T-cell therapies engineered to resist exhaustion and retain stem-like qualities. Lead candidate rondecabtagene autoleucel (ronde-cel) is an autologous dual-targeting CD19/CD20 CAR T-cell product with an OR logic gate, manufactured with a process that enriches CD62L-positive cells. It is in two pivotal trials in relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma, PiNACLE (third line or later) and PiNACLE-H2H (second line); no grade 3 or higher cytokine release syndrome was seen in more than 100 patients. Pivotal data are expected mid-2027 with a BLA planned for late 2027. Ronde-cel holds RMAT and Fast Track designations. LYL273 is a CAR T candidate in a phase 1/2 trial in metastatic colorectal cancer. Lyell runs its own LyFE manufacturing centre, held about $228 million in cash at 30 June 2026 and trades on Nasdaq as LYEL.
