ONK Therapeutics
ONK Therapeutics, based in Galway, Ireland, is developing off-the-shelf natural killer cell therapies that are gene-edited and given two ways to kill cancer cells at once. It is a private, preclinical-stage company spun out of University of Galway research.
Overview
ONK Therapeutics is a privately held Irish company founded in 2015 on the NK cell and apoptosis research of Prof Michael O'Dwyer and collaborators at the University of Galway. It is developing next-generation off-the-shelf, optimally engineered natural killer (NK) cell therapies for haematological malignancies and solid tumours. Its platform combines a chimeric antigen receptor against a tumour antigen with a TRAIL variant that engages the death receptor pathway (DR4 or DR5), a dual-targeted design intended to improve efficacy and reduce antigen escape; the company also holds a European patent on CISH knockout in NK cells. In December 2023 ONK announced a research partnership with NAYA Biosciences to combine its NK cells with FLEX-NK bispecific antibodies. No clinical trial or financing round was described on the fetched pages.
Notes
