THERYQ
THERYQ is a French company building FLASH radiotherapy machines that deliver a whole dose of radiation in a fraction of a second using very high energy electron beams, an approach that in animal studies damaged healthy tissue less while still controlling tumours.
Overview
THERYQ, part of ALCEN For Health (the healthcare branch of French industrial group ALCEN), designs and manufactures linac-based devices to bring FLASH radiotherapy into the clinic. It was formed when AVELION, which had led FLASH projects since 2013, transferred its radiotherapy business to THERYQ in 2022. FLASHKNiFE is a lower-energy electron research device; the flagship FLASHDEEP is a compact linac producing very high energy electron beams of 100 to 200 MeV, able to reach tumours about 20 cm deep while delivering ultra-high dose rates in under 100 milliseconds. The company describes itself as at the preclinical research stage. With Gustave Roussy it was selected under France 2030's i-Demo call for the FLASHDEEP project, a EUR 38 million budget funded through Bpifrance, to run preclinical and clinical studies and prepare a CE marking application while building an industrial platform in Rousset.
