Virtuoso Surgical makes needle-sized robotic arms that work through an endoscope, letting surgeons remove bladder tumours in one piece without an external cut.
Virtuoso Surgical, Inc., a Nashville company founded in April 2016, according to the company, out of research at Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, develops a robotic endoscopic surgery system with needle-sized dexterous arms. The company says it has been funded by more than USD 15 million of private funding from individual investors, as well as NIH and State of Tennessee grants. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT06940648, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in April 2025.
