Neuron-specific enzyme that catalyses the conversion of L-tryptophan into 5-hydroxy-L-tryptophan, the rate-limiting step in serotonin production, using Fe(2+) as cofactor and molecular oxygen and tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) as cosubstrates.
