An experimental blood test from Biofidelity in Cambridge that enriches the tumour's mutated DNA before sequencing, so it needs far less sequencing to find leftover cancer.
Enspyre is a ctDNA enrichment method from Biofidelity Ltd of Cambridge, UK. Its analytical study (Labrousse et al., Scientific Reports 2026) used tumour whole-genome sequencing from eight lung cancer patients, ran 72 samples of patient plasma diluted into healthy donor plasma plus eight healthy controls, and reported 100 per cent (6 of 6) detection down to 10 parts per million, residual disease calls as low as 5 parts per million, and no false positives, with a median DNA input of 7.67 ng and a median of 9.6 million read pairs per sample. The authors state that larger studies are needed to establish its analytical performance. Whether it is offered as a clinical test was not confirmed.
A custom capture panel against patient-specific variants from tumour whole-genome sequencing, with a chemistry that enriches mutated DNA so that far fewer sequencing reads are needed; no molecular barcodes are used.
