KAN-001 is a live biotherapeutic product (defined consortium of commensal bacterial strains, oral) from Kanvas Biosciences, with University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center as partner. A defined consortium of commensal gut bacteria taken by mouth, designed to optimise the gut microbiome before and during immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy, with the aim of raising response rates and improving tolerability. Its furthest stage is phase 1, for non-small cell lung cancer (PD-L1-positive, with pembrolizumab with or without chemotherapy). ClinicalTrials.gov registers it in one study linked below. Company pipeline page still shows Preclinical, but a Kanvas-sponsored phase 1 trial (NCT07910942) was first posted on ClinicalTrials.gov on 2026-11-02, status NOT_YET_RECRUITING, start date 2026-11.
