ACCELERATE
A Brussels-based forum where children's cancer doctors, drug companies, regulators and parents agree how new cancer drugs should be tested in children, so that fewer promising medicines skip childhood cancers.
Overview
Founded in 2013 as a joint initiative of SIOP Europe, ITCC, the European Society for Paediatric Oncology's parent groups and industry, ACCELERATE is a multi-stakeholder platform for paediatric oncology drug development. Its Paediatric Strategy Forums, held with the EMA and the FDA Oncology Center of Excellence, take a mechanism of action (ALK, MEK, BCL2, CDK4/6, ADCs, immunotherapy, radiopharmaceuticals) and agree which products should advance in children and how, an approach that feeds directly into RACE Act and EU Paediatric Regulation obligations. Other workstreams are Fit-for-Filing (making academic trial data acceptable for regulatory submissions), the Long-Term Follow-Up initiative for children on novel agents, the ACCELERATE Paediatric Oncology Master Protocol concept, and the Paediatric Oncology Preclinical Proof-of-Concept programme.
