A US nonprofit network that gives free support to anyone affected by cancer: a helpline for personal navigation, support groups and education, through local centres including Gilda's Club.
Cancer Support Community was formed in 2009 when The Wellness Community, which opened in 1982 in Santa Monica, California, and Gilda's Club Worldwide, founded after the death of the comedian Gilda Radner and opened in New York City in 1995, became one organisation, according to its about page. It states that its Helpline offers free personalised navigation by phone (272-867-5309) or online, and that it produces educational and digital resources for patients, caregivers, families and providers. It also runs distress screening through Patient Planning Services, a social enterprise that merged into it. The IRS Business Master File lists revenue of about $9 million for the tax year ending December 2024; local affiliates are separate charities.
