A North East charity that supports children with cancer treated at the Great North Children's Hospital and funds childhood cancer research in Newcastle.
Children's Cancer North was formed in 2021 by bringing together North of England Children's Cancer Research (NECCR), set up in 1979 by families affected by childhood cancer, and the Children's Cancer Fund, which supported families treated at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. Together they say they have raised over £40 million for children with cancer in the North East and Cumbria since 1979; NECCR, known for the Children's Cancer Run, gave £500,000 in 2016 to help establish the Wolfson Childhood Cancer Research Centre. The register says it supports children treated at the Great North Children's Hospital and their families and funds research into more effective, individualised treatments. It says around 120 children and young people in its region are diagnosed with cancer each year. The Charity Commission register records latest income of about £1.0 million for the year ending 31 December 2025.
