Lille University Hospital (CHU de Lille)
The university hospital of Lille, whose blood diseases department under Thierry Facon led MAIA, the trial that made daratumumab-based treatment the standard for older people with myeloma.
Overview
The CHU de Lille is one of France's largest university hospitals. Its Service des Maladies du Sang, led for many years by Thierry Facon, is a founding centre of the Intergroupe Francophone du Myélome and led MAIA, the 2019 New England Journal of Medicine trial in which daratumumab plus lenalidomide and dexamethasone lengthened survival in newly diagnosed myeloma patients not eligible for transplant. The Centre Oscar Lambret, Lille's dedicated cancer centre, is a separate institution next door.
