European Society of Gynaecological Oncology
Europe's gynaecologic oncology society, whose joint guidelines with ESTRO and ESP and its centre accreditation programme set European standards for ovarian, cervical and endometrial cancer care.
Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Prague, ESGO represents gynaecologic oncologists and allied professionals across Europe and runs a biennial congress and, in alternate years, the State of the Art conference. Its guidelines with ESTRO and ESP on endometrial cancer introduced the molecular classification into routine care, its cervical cancer guidelines with ESTRO and ESP and its ovarian cancer guidelines with ESMO are widely used beyond Europe, and it accredits centres for advanced ovarian cancer surgery and for training through the ESGO Accreditation Programme and the European Network of Young Gynaecological Oncologists. ESGO publishes the International Journal of Gynecological Cancer with IGCS and works with ENGOT on trials and with patient advocacy through ENGAGe.
