HIPEC / PIPAC (intraperitoneal chemotherapy)

Washing the abdominal cavity with heated chemotherapy during surgery to kill microscopic peritoneal deposits.

Survival benefit shown in ovarian cancer at interval debulking (OVHIPEC-1) and in pseudomyxoma; negative in colorectal (PRODIGE 7 for oxaliplatin HIPEC). PIPAC (pressurised aerosol) is a palliative laparoscopic alternative.
