Overview
The Indian Institute of Science was established in 1909 in Bengaluru and is consistently India's highest-ranked research institution. Cancer-relevant work runs through the Department of Molecular Reproduction, Development and Genetics, the Department of Biochemistry, the Centre for BioSystems Science and Engineering and the Department of Computational and Data Sciences, spanning DNA repair, cell signalling, tumour organoids, biomaterials and machine learning on pathology and genomics. In 2022 IISc received a private donation of 425 crore rupees, the largest in its history, to establish a postgraduate medical institute and hospital on campus, which is intended to link its laboratories directly to clinical research.
