Inselspital, Bern University Hospital / University Cancer Center Inselspital

The University Cancer Center Inselspital coordinates cancer care at Switzerland's capital university hospital. Its nuclear medicine department under Axel Rominger is one of Europe's largest PSMA and somatostatin-receptor radioligand therapy centres with a strong dosimetry programme, and Mark Rubin, co-discoverer of the TMPRSS2-ERG fusion in prostate cancer, directs the Department for BioMedical Research and the Bern Center for Precision Medicine. The hospital runs neuro-oncology and neurosurgery, thoracic and gastrointestinal surgery, haematology and CAR-T, and is a lead site for the Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research (SAKK), whose coordinating centre is in Bern. The Insel Gruppe covers a large catchment across the Bernese region.
