IRCCS Istituto Romagnolo per lo Studio dei Tumori 'Dino Amadori' (IRST)
The Romagna cancer institute, known for radioligand therapy, nuclear medicine and genitourinary and sarcoma trials.
IRST opened in 2007 in Meldola near Forlì as the cancer research institute for the Romagna area of Emilia-Romagna and was named after its founder, the oncologist Dino Amadori. Its nuclear medicine department under Giovanni Paganelli, a pioneer of peptide receptor radionuclide therapy with yttrium-90 and lutetium-177 DOTATOC, is one of Italy's leading radioligand therapy centres, and Ugo De Giorgi's genitourinary and sarcoma unit runs PSMA and immunotherapy trials. The institute has an osteoncology and rare tumour centre, a bioscience laboratory for genomics and liquid biopsy, and an early-phase unit, and delivers medical oncology across the Romagna hospital network.
