Physician and health service manager who has been General Director of the Romagna cancer institute IRST in Meldola since July 2025.
Overview
Cristina Marchesi is Direttrice Generale of the IRCCS Istituto Romagnolo per lo Studio dei Tumori 'Dino Amadori' (IRST), the national reference cancer institute for care, research and training based in Meldola with sites in Forlì, Cesena and Ravenna, part of the Emilia-Romagna regional health service. A physician who qualified in 1985 and specialised in hygiene and preventive medicine, she was General Director of the AUSL-IRCCS of Reggio Emilia from 2020 to January 2025 and has been vice-president of FIASO, the Italian federation of health authorities, since July 2023. She took up the IRST post on 1 July 2025, succeeding Lorenzo Maffioli, and leads the institute alongside President Luca Zambianchi, Medical Director Martina Rosticci and Scientific Director Nicola Normanno.
