A New Orleans cancer centre run by LSU Health New Orleans with LCMC Health, covering cancer research, clinical trials, screening outreach and training for the whole of Louisiana.
The LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center is based at LSU Health New Orleans. Its site says it was founded in 1990 and that in February 2022 LSU and LCMC Health joined forces to create a unified cancer centre. It describes its catchment area, as defined by the National Cancer Institute, as the entire state of Louisiana. Its research is organised in three programmes: cancer biology, population sciences and cancer control, and translational and clinical cancer research. It names the Gulf South Clinical Trials Network, the Louisiana Tumor Registry and a community outreach and engagement effort as parts of its work, and it supports education and training from high-school students to residents and fellows. Its site names Lucio Miele, PhD, as Director.
