Oncotarget
Oncotarget is a large online cancer research journal that publishes on anything that can be viewed as a target relevant to cancer, from molecules and pathways to cell types. It is read by basic and translational cancer researchers.
Overview
Oncotarget describes itself as a primarily oncology-focused, peer-reviewed, open access journal that aims to maximise research impact through insightful peer review, to eliminate borders between specialties by linking different fields of oncology, cancer research and biomedical sciences, and to foster the application of basic and clinical science. The term oncotarget, introduced in the inaugural editorial, covers all molecules, pathways, cellular functions, cell types and tissues that can be viewed as targets relevant to cancer and other diseases. The journal started in 2009 and is published from Albany, New York, by Impact Journals (Rapamycin Press LLC). Since 1 January 2022 it has used a continuous publishing model, releasing papers in final form within yearly volumes. The NLM Catalog quotes its self-description as an open access impact journal and lists it in MEDLINE and PubMed Central; it is not currently listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals.
