Overview
Seminars in Oncology has been published since 1974, first by Grune & Stratton in New York and later by W. B. Saunders in Philadelphia, and today by Elsevier; Crossref lists Elsevier (W. B. Saunders) as publisher. The NLM Catalog records it as quarterly from 1974 to 1987 and bimonthly since, issued in print and online and indexed in MEDLINE. The journal follows the Seminars format of issues devoted to reviews on a chosen clinical oncology theme.
In 1971 he proposed that tumours cannot grow beyond a few millimetres without recruiting blood vessels, and that blocking them could treat cancer. Dismissed for decades, the idea produced bevacizumab and a class of drugs.
