Inge Marie Svane
Led the Dutch-Danish trial that proved TIL therapy beats ipilimumab in melanoma, the first randomised win for a cell therapy in a solid tumour.
Overview
Inge Marie Svane (Herlev, Denmark) co-led with John Haanen the randomised phase 3 trial showing tumour-infiltrating lymphocyte therapy doubles progression-free survival compared with ipilimumab in advanced melanoma, the first randomised evidence for any cell therapy in a solid tumour. She built Denmark's academic TIL manufacturing programme and leads trials of TIL in other cancers and of peptide vaccines targeting IDO and PD-L1.
