Neuroblastoma geneticist whose lab found the ALK mutations and immunotherapy targets now in paediatric trials.
Overview
John Maris led the discovery that ALK mutations drive familial and sporadic neuroblastoma, the first targetable oncogene in the disease, and genome-wide association studies of neuroblastoma susceptibility. His laboratory identified GPC2 and other cell-surface targets for paediatric immunotherapy and he co-leads the NCI Pediatric Immunotherapy Discovery and Development Network.
