Patrick Mehlen
Cancer biologist who discovered the dependence-receptor concept and took netrin-1 blockade from bench to clinical trials at Centre Léon Bérard.
Overview
Patrick Mehlen directs fundamental and translational research at Centre Léon Bérard and leads the Cancer Research Center of Lyon (CRCL). His laboratory established the concept of dependence receptors and showed that blocking netrin-1 can inhibit tumour growth, work that led to the anti-netrin-1 antibody now in clinical trials and reported in Nature in 2023.
