Professor Rita Schmutzler is Präsidentin of the Stiftung Deutsche Krebshilfe, the German cancer aid foundation founded in 1974 by Mildred Scheel; German Wikipedia records that she took up the presidency in February 2026, succeeding Anne-Sophie Mutter. A gynaecologist specialising in hereditary breast and ovarian cancer, she directed the Center for Familial Breast and Ovarian Cancer and the National Center for Familial Tumor Diseases at Cologne University Hospital from 2012 until her emeritus status in 2025. The foundation's executive board (Vorstand) comprises Gerd Nettekoven, Lutz M. Heitmüller and Franz Kohlhuber, with Charlotte Niemeyer chairing the Stiftungsrat.
