Shaheem de Vries

Shaheem de Vries is Chief Executive Officer of Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, the tertiary teaching hospital of the University of Cape Town's Faculty of Health Sciences. He took up the post on 1 February 2024, succeeding Bhavna Patel, after ten years as head of Western Cape Government Health Emergency Medical Services and some twenty years in emergency medicine; he holds a medical degree and an MBA from the University of Cape Town.
