FN1
FN1 (Fibronectin) is a gene. The public catalogues list it as a drug target and a biomarker, and clinical evidence ties its variants to diagnosis, prognosis or drug response. Tied to Melanoma.
Overview
Fibronectins bind cell surfaces and various compounds including collagen, fibrin, heparin, DNA, and actin. Fibronectins are involved in cell adhesion, cell motility, opsonisation, wound healing, and maintenance of cell shape. Involved in osteoblast compaction through the fibronectin fibrillogenesis cell-mediated matrix assembly process, essential for osteoblast mineralisation.
CIViC holds 3 clinical evidence items and 0 assertions across 1 variant, naming L19IL2, Dacarbazine and Daromun. Open Targets scores its association with cancer at 0.64 (direct and indirect evidence; datatypes literature 1.00, affected pathway 0.98, genetic association 0.03, clinical 0.19).

No product in this corpus aims at FN1 yet. Drugs bind the molecule precisely: to switch it off, flag the cell for the immune system, or deliver a payload.

Biology
Fibronectins bind cell surfaces and various compounds including collagen, fibrin, heparin, DNA, and actin. Fibronectins are involved in cell adhesion, cell motility, opsonisation, wound healing, and maintenance of cell shape. Involved in osteoblast compaction through the fibronectin fibrillogenesis cell-mediated matrix assembly process, essential for osteoblast mineralisation. Participates in the regulation of type I collagen deposition by osteoblasts. Acts as a ligand for the LILRB4 receptor, inhibiting FCGR1A/CD64-mediated monocyte activation. Binds fibronectin and induces fibril formation. Location: Secreted, extracellular space, extracellular matrix; Secreted (UniProt). Locus 2q35 (HGNC).

Notes
top- Written by scripts/fetch-cancer-genes.ts from CIViC, Open Targets, IntOGen, HGNC and UniProt; the function text is UniProt's, condensed and in UK spelling. Roles: Open Targets known-drug datatype score 0.19; CIViC holds 3 clinical evidence items on its variants. Evidence tier "clinical-evidence" is the strongest of those signals.
- Prevalence not recorded: none of the sources gives a positivity rate.
