A listed Boston company developing an antibody-drug conjugate, a drug that carries a toxin into the tumour, aimed at a protein found in the tissue around cancers. It is in early trials, mainly for head and neck cancer that has come back or spread.
Pyxis Oncology develops antibody-drug conjugates and immunotherapy antibodies. Its lead candidate, micvotabart pelidotin (MICVO, formerly PYX-201), is an ADC with an auristatin payload that targets the extradomain-B splice variant of fibronectin (EDB+FN) in the tumour's extracellular matrix rather than a protein on the cancer cell. It is in Phase 1 as a single agent (NCT05720117) and with pembrolizumab (NCT06795412, Phase 1/2, with Merck Sharp & Dohme as collaborator), with a focus on recurrent or metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. The company says the FDA granted Fast Track designation for R/M HNSCC that has progressed after platinum chemotherapy and an anti-PD-(L)1 therapy. Pyxis trades on Nasdaq under PYXS according to its SEC filings.
