A Boston investment firm that funds biotech companies both privately and on the stock market, and incubates its own. Its cancer bets include Aktis Oncology, CG Oncology and Bicara Therapeutics.
Overview
RA Capital Management was founded in January 2002 by Richard Aldrich and Peter Kolchinsky and is based in Boston (Wikipedia). It runs an evergreen fund that invests across private and public companies, dedicated venture funds (Nexus), a company-creation incubator called Raven, a clinical development accelerator (Blackbird) and an internal research group, TechAtlas. The firm is a frequent lead in crossover rounds ahead of IPOs. Its portfolio page lists a long run of oncology names: Acrivon Therapeutics, Aktis Oncology (alpha radiopharmaceuticals), Alpha-9 Oncology, Bicara Therapeutics, Black Diamond Therapeutics, Boundless Bio, CG Oncology (oncolytic immunotherapy for bladder cancer), Olema Oncology, PMV Pharma (p53) and Pyxis Oncology.
