Obsidian Therapeutics
Obsidian grows a patient's own tumour-fighting immune cells and engineers them with a switch that lets doctors control a growth signal (IL-15) with an oral drug, aiming to make TIL therapy safer and more effective for melanoma and lung cancer. It listed on Nasdaq in August 2026 after raising $350 million.
Overview
Obsidian Therapeutics uses its cytoDRiVE protein-regulation platform to develop engineered tumour-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) cell therapies for solid tumours. Lead candidate OBX-115 is a genetically engineered autologous TIL therapy in a phase 2 trial in advanced melanoma and a phase 1 trial in non-small cell lung cancer. Registration-enabling melanoma data are expected by year-end 2027 and NSCLC phase 1 data in the first half of 2027. In April 2026 Obsidian agreed an all-stock reverse merger with Galera Therapeutics alongside a $350 million private placement from new investors (including Balyasny, Caligan, Eventide, Nantahala, Octagon, Redmile, Spruce Street and Trails Edge) and existing backers such as Atlas Venture, Foresite, Novo Holdings, RA Capital, RTW and Wellington. The deal closed on 3 August 2026; the combined company trades as OBX with about $350 million in cash, funding operations into the second half of 2028.
