Alpha-9 Oncology
Alpha-9 Oncology designs bespoke molecules that deliver radioactive isotopes to cancer cells, with early human trials under way in melanoma and in breast and other solid tumours.
Overview
Alpha-9 Oncology is a clinical-stage radiopharmaceutical company with offices in Vancouver and Boston. It takes a modular approach, optimising each element of a radiotherapeutic (binder, linker, chelator and isotope) and pairing therapeutic agents with imaging companions. A9-3408, an actinium-225 radiotherapeutic targeting melanocortin 1 receptor (MC1R), began a phase 1 study in melanoma in December 2025, following the 68Ga imaging agent A9-3202 that entered the clinic in 2024. In September 2026 the company dosed the first patient in a phase 1 study of two GRPR-targeting compounds, 225Ac-A9-0642 and 177Lu-A9-0631, in breast cancer and other solid tumours, with data expected in late 2027. Alpha-9 has an actinium-225 supply agreement with ITM (April 2025). In October 2024 it closed an oversubscribed USD 175 million Series C led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Ascenta Capital. Paul Blanchfield was appointed CEO in November 2025.
