ITGA2B
ITGA2B (Integrin alpha-IIb) is a gene. In the public catalogues the evidence so far is association rather than a proven role.
Overview
Integrin alpha-IIb/beta-3 (ITGA2B:ITGB3) is a receptor for fibronectin, fibrinogen, plasminogen, prothrombin, thrombospondin and vitronectin. It recognises the sequence R-G-D in a wide array of ligands. It recognises the sequence H-H-L-G-G-G-A-K-Q-A-G-D-V in fibrinogen gamma chain.
Open Targets scores its association with cancer at 0.62 (direct and indirect evidence; datatypes literature 0.81, affected pathway 0.97, animal model 0.55, genetic association 0.07).

Biology
Integrin alpha-IIb/beta-3 (ITGA2B:ITGB3) is a receptor for fibronectin, fibrinogen, plasminogen, prothrombin, thrombospondin and vitronectin. It recognises the sequence R-G-D in a wide array of ligands. It recognises the sequence H-H-L-G-G-G-A-K-Q-A-G-D-V in fibrinogen gamma chain. Following activation integrin alpha-IIb/beta-3 brings about platelet/platelet interaction through binding of soluble fibrinogen. This step leads to rapid platelet aggregation which physically plugs ruptured endothelial cell surface. Integrin ITGA2B:ITGB3 is also the receptor of erythrocyte-specific ICAM4 ligand involved in heterotypic cell-cell adhesion between erythrocytes and activated platelets. Location: Cell membrane (UniProt). Locus 17q21.31 (HGNC).
Notes
top- Written by scripts/fetch-cancer-genes.ts from CIViC, Open Targets, IntOGen, HGNC and UniProt; the function text is UniProt's, condensed and in UK spelling. Roles: none stated by the sources. Evidence tier "association-only" is the strongest of those signals.
- Prevalence not recorded: none of the sources gives a positivity rate.
