TOX3
TOX3 (TOX high mobility group box family member 3) is a protein that switches other genes on and off. In the public catalogues the evidence so far is association rather than a proven role. Tied to Breast cancer.
Overview
Transcriptional coactivator of the p300/CBP-mediated transcription complex. Activates transactivation through cAMP response element (CRE) sites. Protects against cell death by inducing antiapoptotic and repressing pro-apoptotic transcripts.
Open Targets scores its association with cancer at 0.58 (direct and indirect evidence; datatypes literature 0.97, genetic association 0.72).

- 2 · What goes wrong in cancer
Transcriptional coactivator of the p300/CBP-mediated transcription complex. Activates transactivation through cAMP response element (CRE) sites.
- 3 · How drugs use it
No product in this corpus aims at TOX3 yet. Transcription factors have no pocket to plug, so drugs either degrade them or block the partner protein they need to dock on DNA.

Biology
Transcriptional coactivator of the p300/CBP-mediated transcription complex. Activates transactivation through cAMP response element (CRE) sites. Protects against cell death by inducing antiapoptotic and repressing pro-apoptotic transcripts. Stimulates transcription from the oestrogen-responsive or BCL-2 promoters. Required for depolarisation-induced transcription activation of the C-FOS promoter in neurons. Associates with chromatin to the oestrogen-responsive C3 promoter region. Location: Nucleus (UniProt). Locus 16q12.1 (HGNC).

Notes
top- Written by scripts/fetch-cancer-genes.ts from CIViC, Open Targets, IntOGen, HGNC and UniProt; the function text is UniProt's, condensed and in UK spelling. Roles: none stated by the sources. Evidence tier "association-only" is the strongest of those signals.
- Prevalence not recorded: none of the sources gives a positivity rate.
