TRAK1
TRAK1 (Trafficking kinesin-binding protein 1) is a gene. In the public catalogues the evidence so far is association rather than a proven role.
Overview
Involved in the regulation of endosome-to-lysosome trafficking, including endocytic trafficking of EGF-EGFR complexes and GABA-A receptors. Involved in mitochondrial motility. When O-glycosylated, abolishes mitochondrial motility.
Open Targets scores its association with cancer at 0.61 (direct and indirect evidence; datatypes literature 0.39, affected pathway 0.89, animal model 0.36, genetic association 0.32).

TRAK1 (Trafficking kinesin-binding protein 1) is a gene. In the public catalogues the evidence so far is association rather than a proven role.
- 2 · What goes wrong in cancer
Involved in the regulation of endosome-to-lysosome trafficking, including endocytic trafficking of EGF-EGFR complexes and GABA-A receptors. Involved in mitochondrial motility.
- 3 · How drugs use it
No product in this corpus aims at TRAK1 yet. Drugs bind the molecule precisely: to switch it off, flag the cell for the immune system, or deliver a payload.

Biology
Involved in the regulation of endosome-to-lysosome trafficking, including endocytic trafficking of EGF-EGFR complexes and GABA-A receptors. Involved in mitochondrial motility. When O-glycosylated, abolishes mitochondrial motility. Crucial for recruiting OGT to the mitochondrial surface of neuronal processes. TRAK1 and RHOT form an essential protein complex that links KIF5 to mitochondria for light chain-independent, anterograde transport of mitochondria. Location: Cytoplasm; Nucleus; Mitochondrion; Early endosome (UniProt). Locus 3p22.1 (HGNC).
Notes
top- Written by scripts/fetch-cancer-genes.ts from CIViC, Open Targets, IntOGen, HGNC and UniProt; the function text is UniProt's, condensed and in UK spelling. Roles: none stated by the sources. Evidence tier "association-only" is the strongest of those signals.
- Prevalence not recorded: none of the sources gives a positivity rate.
