AGCT1531
AGCT1531 is testing two ways to spare people with germ cell tumours from long-term harm: watching low-risk patients after surgery and giving chemotherapy only if the tumour returns, and swapping cisplatin for carboplatin, which is kinder to hearing, in standard-risk disease; it is still recruiting.
Overview
AGCT1531 is a Children's Oncology Group phase 3 study run with adult cooperative groups for malignant extracranial germ cell tumours from birth to age 50. Low-risk patients (stage I) enter active surveillance after surgery with chemotherapy reserved for relapse. Standard-risk patients are randomised to bleomycin, etoposide and carboplatin or bleomycin, etoposide and cisplatin, with paediatric and adult dosing schedules; the primary endpoints are event-free and overall survival at two years, and ototoxicity is a central secondary endpoint.
The registry gives an estimated enrolment of 1,780 with a primary completion date of June 2027 and no results. The corpus's childhood germ cell tumour page cites the AGCT1531 stratum for surveillance with chemotherapy only at relapse.
