SCALOP-2 is the UK follow-on to SCALOP, testing whether a higher radiotherapy dose or the HIV drug nelfinavir improves chemoradiotherapy for pancreatic cancer that cannot be removed; it finished in 2021 and its main results had not appeared in an indexed journal by September 2026.
SCALOP-2 (ISRCTN50083238, NCT02024009) recruited 159 patients between 2016 and 2021 at 23 UK hospitals from Aberdeen to Colchester, led from the Churchill Cancer Centre in Oxford. After induction gemcitabine and nab-paclitaxel, patients were randomised between standard and high-dose capecitabine-based chemoradiotherapy with or without nelfinavir; the registry lists the trial as completed on 23 June 2021 with progression-free survival and overall survival as primary outcomes. No primary publication was found in Europe PMC on 24 September 2026, so the corpus records the design and status only; with LAP07 and CONKO-007 it is the evidence base for the locally advanced row's statement that chemoradiotherapy is optional.
