Overview
Break Through Cancer's fast facts page states: 'Founded in 2021, Break Through Cancer is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and is led by President Tyler Jacks.' Its mission is to 'empower outstanding researchers and physicians to both intercept and find cures for the deadliest cancers by stimulating Radical Collaboration', reducing barriers such as contract negotiation, data sharing, intellectual property and authorship across institutions. Research focus areas listed on the site are acute myelogenous leukaemia, glioblastoma, lung cancer, osteosarcoma, ovarian cancer, pancreatic cancer and data science, funded through multi-institution TeamLabs. It is a grant-making foundation, not an equity investor, so it has no company portfolio; it is included because it is a significant philanthropic funder of translational cancer research.
