A US company making antibodies against SIRP proteins to remove overactive immune cells. Its lead drug is mainly for a dangerous inflammatory condition called sHLH, and it is also in an early trial for T-cell and NK-cell blood cancers that have come back.
Electra Therapeutics develops antibodies directed at signal regulatory proteins (SIRP) that it says selectively deplete activated, disease-driving immune cells. Its lead antibody, ipsoprubart (ELA026), binds SIRP-alpha and SIRP-beta1 on myeloid cells and SIRP-gamma on T cells. It is in a registrational Phase 2/3 programme as first-line treatment for secondary haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (sHLH), a hyperinflammatory condition whose largest subtype, the company says, is malignancy-associated HLH, and in a Phase 1 trial in relapsed or refractory T-cell and NK-cell malignancies (NCT07465835, recruiting since February 2026). A second antibody, ELA822, is aimed at immune-mediated diseases. The IPO prospectus states the company was incorporated in Delaware in October 2018 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Star Therapeutics. Its Form 8-K reports that the IPO closed on 21 September 2026 at $15.00 a share for gross proceeds of about $350.0 million, with the stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under ETRA.
