Normunity develops antibody medicines that direct the immune system's T cells against tumours. Its lead, NRM-823, recognises a target found on several solid tumours but not on normal tissue, and is in an early trial.
Normunity, located in Boston, Massachusetts, and New Haven, Connecticut, creates anti-cancer therapies at the interface of the immune system and the tumour, built on research by scientific founder Lieping Chen at Yale School of Medicine; Rachel Humphrey was founding chief executive. It announced a USD 65 million Series A in October 2022, led by Canaan with Sanofi Ventures, Taiho Ventures and Osage University Partners, and a USD 75 million Series B in January 2025, co-led by Samsara BioCapital and Enavate Sciences with Regeneron Ventures, Pfizer Ventures and YK Bioventures. Its lead, NRM-823, is a first-in-class T cell engager against what the company describes as a novel, highly tumour-specific target absent in normal systemic tissues; the first patient was dosed in November 2025 in a phase 1a/1b study (NCT07182149) alone and with checkpoint inhibition in head and neck, oesophageal, gastric and gastro-oesophageal junction cancers. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT07182149, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in September 2025.
