Sijbrandij Foundation

The Sijbrandij Foundation, based at 548 Market Street in San Francisco, describes its purpose as supporting the exploration of new and under-resourced ways to catalyse transformational change. Its cancer work is Future of Cancer Care Today (FCCT), which the foundation incubates: a PhD-led team that surfaces diagnostic and treatment options for patients and families, including options beyond standard of care, curates a directory of suppliers and providers, publishes self-serve playbooks and works on patients' rights to access and move their own data and tissue. The foundation grew out of the cancer journey of Sid Sijbrandij, the GitLab co-founder, whose osteosarcoma recurred in 2024; his venture studio Even One Ventures builds companies on the same patient-first playbook.
