Tozuleristide is an experimental fluorescent imaging agent from Blaze Bioscience, in phase 3 trials for paediatric central nervous system tumours, breast cancer and glioma and other cancers.
Tozuleristide (BLZ-100, Tumor Paint) is a fluorescent imaging agent (chlorotoxin-derived peptide conjugated to a near-infrared dye) from Blaze Bioscience. An investigational intraoperative imaging agent whose active component is a chlorotoxin-variant cystine-dense mini-protein conjugated to a near-infrared fluorescent dye; it is taken up and retained by cancer cells so tumour tissue fluoresces under near-infrared imaging during surgery. Its furthest stage is phase 3, for paediatric central nervous system tumours, breast cancer, glioma and skin cancer. ClinicalTrials.gov registers it in 8 studies linked below. Phase 2/3 paediatric CNS trial NCT03579602 completed; FDA Fast Track for paediatric CNS tumours; company now names breast cancer (breast-conserving surgery) as lead indication with an investigator-sponsored trial planned. Whether it works in people has not been established unless a trial below reports it.
