Blaze Bioscience, founded in 2010 in Seattle from the work of Jim Olson at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, developed tozuleristide (BLZ-100), a chlorotoxin-derived peptide conjugated to the near-infrared dye indocyanine green that binds tumour cells and shows surgeons where tumour ends. It was taken into a phase 3 trial in paediatric central nervous system tumours, registered on ClinicalTrials.gov under Blaze as lead sponsor.
