Overview
The Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi opened in 1985 as the teaching hospital of the Aga Khan University and was the first hospital in Pakistan accredited by Joint Commission International. Its oncology services include medical oncology, radiation oncology, haematology and stem cell transplantation, surgical oncology, paediatric oncology and nuclear medicine, and its Section of Medical Oncology and Department of Oncology run one of the most productive cancer research programmes in the country, including the Karachi Cancer Registry work and hereditary breast cancer studies. The hospital also operates a nationwide clinical laboratory network.
