Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario)
The provincial cancer programme for Canada's most populous province, formerly Cancer Care Ontario and now part of Ontario Health.
Overview
Cancer Care Ontario was the Government of Ontario's cancer advisor and system steward, responsible for the Ontario Cancer Plan, provincial screening programmes (breast, cervical, colorectal and lung), the Ontario Cancer Registry, funding and quality standards for the regional cancer centres, and evidence-based clinical guidelines through its Program in Evidence-Based Care. In 2019 it was merged with other provincial agencies into Ontario Health, where its functions continue as the cancer programme. It coordinates the network of regional cancer centres, including the Princess Margaret, Sunnybrook Odette, Juravinski, Ottawa Hospital and London's Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre, and publishes system performance data.
