Prince of Wales Hospital / Chinese University of Hong Kong

Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin is the teaching hospital of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and houses the Sir Y.K. Pao Centre for Cancer and the Hong Kong Cancer Institute. Dennis Lo's laboratory at CUHK discovered plasma cell-free fetal DNA and then showed that plasma EBV DNA can screen asymptomatic men for early nasopharyngeal carcinoma, work that founded liquid biopsy and led to spin-outs including Cirina and GRAIL's early technology. Anthony Chan's group established concurrent chemoradiotherapy and EBV-DNA-guided treatment in NPC, and Joseph Sung's team advanced colorectal cancer screening across Asia. The hospital is a major site for gastrointestinal, hepatocellular and lung cancer trials in Hong Kong.
