Overview
Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust moved to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus in 2019 and runs lung cancer, thoracic surgery, interstitial lung disease and lung infection services alongside its cardiac work; the Heart and Lung Research Institute sits beside it. The National Lung Cancer Audit's 2026 data tables record 236 lung cancer resections at the trust in 2024, with no deaths within 90 days of surgery. It was one of the two hospitals that delivered the UK Lung Cancer Screening trial, and it is a site for the Fit 4 Surgery 2 prehabilitation trial.
