A US charity, founded in 1979, that teaches sun protection and early detection of skin cancer, runs free skin checks from a mobile clinic and gives a Seal of Recommendation to sun-protection products.
The Skin Cancer Foundation was founded in 1979 and works on daily sun protection and the early detection and treatment of skin cancer, according to its own pages. It publishes patient education used in medical offices and on SkinCancer.org, which it says nearly 10 million people visit a year. Its Destination Healthy Skin RV, with two exam rooms, tours the country so that volunteer dermatologists can give free full-body skin cancer screenings. Its Seal of Recommendation, reviewed by a volunteer Photobiology Committee, is given to sunscreens, clothing and other sun-protection products. It has funded more than $2 million in research grants since 1981. The IRS Business Master File lists revenue of about $21 million for the tax year ending December 2024.
