Sydney Children's Hospitals Network / Children's Cancer Institute
Australia's largest paediatric hospital network, which with the Children's Cancer Institute runs ZERO Childhood Cancer, a national precision medicine programme for every child with cancer.
The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network comprises the Children's Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick, whose oncology units are the largest in Australia. With the Children's Cancer Institute, a UNSW-affiliated research institute founded in 1976 by parents of children with cancer, they created the ZERO Childhood Cancer programme, which since 2017 has offered whole-genome, RNA and methylation profiling plus high-throughput drug testing to children with high-risk and now all cancers across Australia, one of the first national paediatric precision oncology programmes anywhere. Research strengths include neuroblastoma biology (Michelle Haber, Glenn Marshall, Murray Norris), leukaemia minimal residual disease testing, and the Australian and New Zealand Children's Haematology/Oncology Group trials.
