Overview
Tel Aviv University's Gray Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences (formerly Sackler) is the academic affiliation of Sheba Medical Center, Tel Aviv Sourasky (Ichilov) and Rabin Medical Center, which is why a large share of Israeli clinical oncology publications carry a Tel Aviv University address alongside a hospital one. Its distinctive contribution of its own is Diffusing Alpha-emitters Radiation Therapy: Itzhak Kelson in physics and Yona Keisari in immunology devised seeds that release short-lived alpha-emitting daughter atoms which diffuse a few millimetres through a tumour, a route to alpha radiation that does not require a targeting molecule, and the work was licensed through the university's technology transfer company Ramot to Alpha Tau Medical. Zelig Eshhar, whose 1989 chimeric receptor is the ancestor of every CAR-T product, ran his later laboratory at Tel Aviv Sourasky within the same faculty.
